Review: iStroboSoft for iOS
For over 70 years, Peterson Strobe Tuners has been trusted by professionals. Now, their popular StroboSoft tuning application is available for iPhone and iPad. iStroboSoft™ offers the same unmatched accuracy as a mechanical strobe tuner, making it the most precise software tuning application on the market.
With 1/10th cent accuracy, you can quickly and easily tune your electric and acoustic instruments. Peterson Tuners is a leading company in the tuning industry, providing hardware and software solutions for musicians of all levels.
Features:
- Stand-by mode to conserve battery or freeze the display.
- Guided Mode Tuning, which slows down the strobe bands as you approach the correct tuning.
- Speed control for strobe display, allowing for a longer note display.
- 12 Temperaments with adjustable root control.
- Display showing all sharps notes.
- Assisted Low Note Detection (ALND) for capturing very low frequencies.
- Mains hum filter to reduce interference from power cycle hum when using a direct line-in connection or charging the device while using the app.
- Real-time strobe display for unmatched accuracy.
- Note/Octave window displaying the correct note and octave being tuned.
- Cents display to determine how far out of tune a note is.
- Tune in auto or manual mode.
- Toggle between displaying cents, Hz, and MIDI note value for the note being tuned.
- Glowing flat/sharp indicators for tuning notes that are far from the target position.
- Noise filter to reduce environmental noise during tuning with an external mic or clip-on device.
- Input boost to raise all input frequencies by +24dB.
- Calibration mode to guarantee 1/10th cent accuracy by calibrating iStroboSoft to an external source.
- Drop/Capo mode to auto-transpose notes up or down by one full octave.
- Adjustable Concert A reference to accommodate non-standard tuning or instruments that use a different reference pitch.
- Full-screen mode for better viewing from a distance.
- Customizable strobe display colors for different lighting environments or personal preference.
You can use the built-in mic on your device for tuning, or connect directly via the headphone jack using an approved adaptor cable or interface. Devices without a headphone jack can connect a pickup or mic using the lightning-to-audio adaptor.
